Entry requirements

• For a bachelor’s programme: a completed secondary qualification (12 years of schooling for most Indian applicants) with transcripts and certificates.
• For a master’s programme: a relevant bachelor’s degree. Some programmes specify minimum academic performance, which differs between institutions.
• English-taught programmes: IELTS, TOEFL or an accepted equivalent at the band the institution requires.
• Latvian-taught programmes: proof of Latvian at the level the programme requires.
• Documents not in English or Latvian usually need a certified translation.

How the application process works

• Shortlist programmes and confirm entry requirements, tuition, scholarship calls and the intake dates that apply to international applicants.
• Prepare and translate documents (degree certificates, marks statements, passport, photographs, language proof, recommendation letters, motivation letter).
• Apply through the institution’s admissions portal — some Latvian institutions process international files centrally — before the deadline.
• Receive and accept your offer and complete any registration steps the institution requests.
• Apply for your student visa with the admission documents and financial evidence the authorities require.
• Once the visa is granted, book travel, arrange accommodation, enrol at your institution and complete the residence registration students must do after arrival.

Latvian higher education includes both state-funded and fee-paying places; publicly funded seats are allocated through a selection process, and most international students study on fee-paying terms.
