Entry requirements

• For a bachelor’s programme: a completed secondary qualification (12 years of schooling for most Indian applicants) with transcripts and certificates.
• For a master’s programme: a relevant bachelor’s degree, plus any subject prerequisites the programme sets.
• English-taught programmes: IELTS, TOEFL or an accepted equivalent — some institutions accept alternatives such as a medium-of-instruction letter or an internal language test, so confirm with the programme.
• Hungarian-taught programmes: proof of Hungarian at the level the programme requires.
• Documents not in English or Hungarian usually need a certified translation.

How the application process works

• Shortlist programmes and confirm entry requirements, tuition, living costs and the deadline for your intake.
• Prepare and translate documents (degree certificates, marks statements, passport, photographs, language proof, recommendation letters, motivation letter).
• Apply through the university’s admissions portal before its deadline; some programmes also require an entrance examination or interview.
• Receive and accept your offer and complete the enrolment and fee steps the university requests.
• Apply for your student visa at the Hungarian mission with the admission documents and financial evidence.
• After the visa is granted, travel, arrange accommodation, complete address registration and enrol at your university on arrival.

Tuition in Hungary is generally affordable relative to Western Europe, and fees differ widely between programmes — state-funded places exist for eligible students, while international English-medium programmes are usually fee-paying.
